You will tend to see younger Orangutans at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Sabah, Borneo as the mature male apes have successfully rehabilitated into the surrounding rain forest, and are self-sufficient. Trip Itinerary – Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre Half Day Tour, Sabah, Malaysia
Morning Feeding Session Half Day Tour Itinerary
8:00hrs – 9:15hrs: You will be collected from your hotel in Sandakan, or Sandakan Airport (your flight will need to arrive at Sandakan Airport by 8:00hrs latest) or from a Lodge near Sepilok. You will then be transferred by minibus to Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary (a ~ forty minutes drive from Sandakan).
10:00hrs: You will arrive at Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. After registration, follow a guided boardwalk that will lead you to the Feeding Platform, a chance for you to explore the lowland rainforest trees. Watch the feeding of Orangutans. Afterwards, you will watch the scheduled video programme about the Orangutan (25mins) at the Nature Education Centre and pay a visit to the Exhibition Hall.
~11:30hrs: Visit the Sun Bear Conservation Centre which is located next door to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Here you will watch a video explaining the conservation efforts to protect the world’s smallest bear followed by time on the viewing platform to watch the Sun Bears in their large, open enclosures in the surrounding forest.
~ 12 noon: Depart Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary for Sandakan and transfer back to your respective hotel or to Sandakan Airport (it is recommending you catch a flight departing from Sandakan Airport from 14:30hrs or later).
