The small town of Kundasang is located in the district known as Ranau. Ranau is located in Sabah, the Borneo Federal State Malaysia Kundasang lies along the bank of Kundasang Valley. Located just 6 kilometres away from Kinabalu National Park and 12 kilometres from Ranau town. Ranau is renowned for its sprawling vegetable market – Open seven days a week. Being the closest town to Mount Kinabalu and has a panoramic view of the Mountain. The native population is mainly Dusun and a small population of Chinese people. Almost all the shops and stalls are operated by local Malaysians.

Kundasang is at an elevation of almost 1,900 m (6,200 ft) – Making it feel like ‘free airconditioning’. Being the highest settlement in Malaysia. Kundasang, or shall we say New Zealand of Borneo as it is also famously known. This is because of its unique mountainous geographical terrain almost similar to New Zealand – Hobbit Shires.
