Course Philosophy | The AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty Course allows PADI Instructors and Assistant Instructors to inform divers and non-divers about the plight of the world’s coral reefs. The course describes how coral reefs function and why they are so important. It also reviews why many reefs are in serious trouble and what individuals can do to prevent further decline. Most divers, snorkelers and environmental enthusiasts have already visited or plan to visit a coral reef. The AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course provides the knowledge base for proper interaction while touring a reef.

Please note – The above price is per person and is based upon joining a scheduled course or a 2-person booking. Price excludes Sabah Parks Conservation fees added below when selecting either Malaysian or Non-Malaysian.

U/Water Digiatal Camera Rental

Why not capture a few underwater memories with an underwater camera rental? We offer a Nikon W300 rated to 30m or GoPro Hero 11 with an underwater housing and float handle rated to 40m. Your images will be uploaded to a Google Drive, and a link will be shared with you. Photos will be available for download for approximately ten days. Please be aware that there will be a charge for loss or damage to the camera and housing RM 2500.00

The Project AWARE Speciality Program, Kota Kinabalu Sabah with Borneo Dream is designed to familiarize divers, and non-divers, with the plight of worldwide aquatic ecosystems (such as coral reefs) and to describe what individuals can do to help protect them.

This course covers information about aquatic ecosystem degradation along with conservation measures to protect aquatic resources. The course covers the following:

  • The Project AWARE philosophy about protecting worldwide aquatic ecosystems.
  • The importance of and interdependent nature of worldwide aquatic ecosystems.
  • Key issues concerning the environmental status of worldwide aquatic ecosystems, including: fisheries concerns, coastal zone management and marine pollution.
  • Suggestions and information about specific actions that may help to conserve worldwide aquatic ecosystems.

The Project AWARE Speciality Program, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is designed for classroom presentation only, no dives are required. It is an ideal course to be combined other specialities such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, AWARE Fish Identification and other programs such as Discover Snorkeling or the PADI Skin Diver course.
