The PADI Rescue Diver Course is a two day course and focuses upon helping certified divers develop the knowledge and skills to be able to pre-empt, and react to, diver rescue situations. By the end of the course you will not only be a more confident and able diver, you will also be a more able dive buddy. During the two day PADI Rescue Diver Course Kota Kinabalu you will complete skill sessions and rescue scenarios. Pre-study is required in advance of the course. All course dives are completed in the lovely tropical waters of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park located in front of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The PADI Rescue Diver Course involves 2 days of 'wet activities' and some pre-study. How you choose to do your pre-study is up to you. You can choose to collect and read your PADI Rescue Diver manual on holiday before your course starts. We strongly suggest you complete the pre-study the day before your course is due to start by attending our office for a 4 hour study session. You could also consider the PADI eLearning Rescue Diver Course and complete all your study on-line before you come on holiday.

Before you start the PADI Rescue Diver Course you will need t be a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) with a valid first aid certification. If you don't have a current First Aid certification then you could complete the half day PADI Emergency First Responder First Aid Course in advance of your PAI Rescue Diver Course. A perfect combination!

Typical Itinerary for the PADI Rescue Diver Course in Kota Kinabalu

Pre-study Session

Arrive at our Shop at G27 Wisma Sabah, central Kota Kinabalu. During this study session you will watch the PADI Rescue Diver Course DVD. At the same time you will complete the knowledge reviews contained in your PADI Rescue Diver Manual. There is also a final Rescue Diver Exam but this may be completed your lunch breaks on your 'wet activity' days, all depends upon your progress and understanding. All this should take around 4 hours leaving the rest of your day free and easy.

Day 1

We will meet and collect you at 8:45am at the entrance to Jesselton Point Jetty in central Kota Kinabalu (please check you Booking Email for the meeting arrangements). Please beware our boats will depart on time at 9:00am and should miss your collection you will need to contact our office on +60178118149 immediately.

Today you will complete and learn most of your PADI Rescue Diver Skills, some will be completed before lunch and the your remainder will be integrated into an afternoon dive along coral reef. Lunch will be on a tropical island. Depending upon your understanding of the academic side of things more reviews and learning may take place over lunch.

Returning to the jetty in central Kota Kinabalu for around 4:00pm.

Day 2

Collection will be from the same jetty as your first day. Today will be a bit more relaxed compared to yesterday. Both in the morning and afternoon you will complete PADI Rescue Diver Scenarios incorporating the Rescue Skills you have already learned. Lunch will be on a tropical island.

Note - Please be beware that if you did not attend the 'Office Study Session' your instructor will require you to complete all chapters and the associated knowledge reviews including final exam prior to you entering the water for your final Rescue Diver Scenario. Refer to your instructor for further clarification.

Returning to the jetty in central Kota Kinabalu for around 4:00pm.

Pre-requisites - PADI Rescue Diver Course

  • Divers need to be PADI Advanced Open Water or similar with 20 logged dives.
  • You will need to have a valid First Aid Certificate showing both Primary and Secondary Care, including CPR. This must have been issued or renewed in the last 2 years.

Notes - PADI Rescue Diver Course

PADI Liability Forms and a PADI Medical Form must be signed by the participant before the PADI Course starts. You need to have minimum 18 hours free after diving before flying on a plane, or changing altitude > 300 metres, in line with PADI safety standards.
