Over two days you'll complete four deep dives before becoming certified to dive to a cool 40 metres.

The PADI Deep Diver Speciality Course, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah with Borneo Dream will provide a safe introduction to deeper diving within the limits of recreational scuba diving. As a PADI Deep Diver you will be certified for recreational diving, with a dive buddy, up to 40 metres. That's deep!

To help you dive deeper, safely the PADI Deep Diver Speciality Course, Kota Kinabalu covers the following key areas:-

  • Planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of deep diving
  • Risk factors and decompression-tables review

The duration of the PADI Deep Diver course is 2 days and includes four (4) ocean dives. The PADI Deep Diver course is run in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, near Kota Kinabalu. We typically go to deeper coral reefs, such as Edgell Patch or Clements Reef, for the dives as part of this course.

Typical Itinerary for the PADI Deep Diver Course in Kota Kinabalu

Day 1
Your need to meet our Dive Crew at the Red Public Telephone Booths at the entrance to Jesselton Point Jetty (in central Kota Kinabalu) at 8:45am, for a 9:00am boat departure. Please beware our boats will depart on time and should you miss your collection you will need to contact our office on +60178118149 immediately.

Today you will complete your two course dives - deep dive 1 and deep dive 2. Over the next couple days your PADI Instructor will provide full briefings for each dive to ensure you have the knowledge, and are confident applying it, to be a safe PADI Deep Diver.

Day 2
All being well, by the end of this day you will be a PADI Deep Diver!! In the morning you will complete Dive 3 followed by lunch. In the afternoon it is time for your deep Dive 4 - Your final qualifying deep dive :-)

Pre-requisites for the PADI Deep Diver Course

The minimum age for attending the PADI Deep Diver course is 15 years and you must already hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or similar certification.

What's included in our PADI Deep Diver Course?

  • PADI Certification (upon successfully completing the course)
  • Four open water course deep dives
  • Free use of our rental dive gear during your course (mask, snorkel, full foot fins, BCD, 3mm shorty tropical wetsuit, regulator and gauges)
  • Lunch during the two day course (choose from a choice of local dishes)
  • Small groups with a low Instructor to Student ratio, often lower than 1:4
  • Free flow water on our boats
  • Instruction in English, Malay or Chinese
  • Boat transfers from Jesselton Point Jetty in central Kota Kinabalu (and Jesselton Point jetty fee)

What's not included?

  • Sabah Parks Diving Permit - RM 21.20 Malaysian RM 53.00 Non Malaysian
  • Collection from your hotel, as most hotels in Kota Kinabalu it is easier to walk and often quicker than a taxi.

What do I need to bring on my PADI Deep Diver Course in Kota Kinabalu?

Notes - Deep Diver Course

PADI Liability Forms and a PADI Medical Form must be signed by the participant before the PADI Course starts. You need to have minimum 24 hours free after diving before flying on a plane, or changing altitude > 300 metres, in line with PADI safety standards following deeper dives.

Any participant under 18 years is supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
