Trip Itinerary - Half Day Tour Mari Mari Cultural Village, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
09:20hrs / 13:20: You will be collected from your hotel in central Kota Kinabalu. You will then be transferred to Mari Mari Cultural Village, a ~45 minutes journey from central Kota Kinabalu.
10:00hrs / 14:00: Upon arrival at Mari Mari Cultural Village you will be greeted by the village “Chief” and go through a ‘Welcome Ceremony’. Once welcomed in to Mari Mari Cultural Village you will visit the five traditional homes of the following tribes:-
- Dusun House. Here, you will be briefed on the tools used in the olden days and the materials of the house itself. You will learn about bamboo cooking and Montoku (rice wine) processing.
- Rungus Longhouse. Here, you will learn how to start a fire without lighters and look into the typical room of the tribe.
- Lundayeh House. Demonstrations of producing ropes, vests, floors, walls and etc. from tree barks.
- Bajau House. Watch the locals prepare Jala (local cake) and Pandan juice.
- Murut Longhouse. Watch a demonstration of blowpipe making and tobacco cutting. Watch the locals as they tattoo their bodies ‘manually’.
12:00hrs / 16:00: After your Mari Mari cultural village tour you will watch a cultural performance, including some traditional dances from Sabah, and enjoy a buffet lunch before being transferred back to Kota Kinabalu.
13:30hrs / 18:00: Arrive back at your hotel in central Kota Kinabalu.
