TRIP ITINERARY - Kiulu Valley Jungle Trekking Adventure, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
9:00hrs: you will be collected you from your Hotel (exact pick up time is confirmed at booking) and transferred to The Adventure Centre located in the Kiulu Valley, the starting location for your trek (approx. 60 minute transfer).
1000hrs: Arrive at The Adventure Centre and meet your Jungle Guide who will provide you with a full safety briefing for your Jungle Trekking in Kiulu Valley, Sabah and go through the days itinerary.
1030hrs: Time to head into the jungle and start your trek. Your trek will take you through local Kampong's (villages) and over hanging bridges and the Kiulu River. You will trek along established jungle trails and as you walk your guide will teach you about the ethnobotony of the forest here in the Kiulu valley. The guide will show you fruits and plants that are edible and plants that are used for medicinal purposes, as passed down through the local tribes over the years.
1200hrs: Arrive at Jungle camp Kalani, a genuine forest training camp. Your guide will then demonstrate the basic skills needed for comfortable jungle living. Your guide will show you how to hang a hammock, how to use a parang, chopping fire wood, lighting a fire and then cooking a basic meal. Rest here a while and enjoy the sounds, smells and sights of the forest. The guide will then demonstrate how to create the basic equipment you might need or want from the bamboo growing throughout the forest. From chopsticks and spoons, to huts and homes, bamboo can be your best friend.
1400hrs: Time to trek out of the jungle, following the river trail, and return to The Adventure Centre.￼
1500hrs : You have done it, trekked into and out of the Bornean forest! Once back at the Adventure Centre you will be able to freshen up before moving onto the next big adventure, "The Flying fox", Borneo's one and only 'DOUBLE' zip line. Your guide will introduce you to your Zip Line Instructor who will then provide you with a full safety briefing. Ask one of the team to look after your camera and take your picture as you fly across the Kiulu River "twice".
1600hrs: Sadly the adventure 'Jungle trekking in Kiulu Valley, Sabah' is over and it is time to head back to the city. You will be transferred back by minibus to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah(approx. 60 minutes transfer, depending on traffic).

You need to be in good health and physically fit and comfortable at trekking for a couple hours in a tropical climate (with stops for briefings and demonstrations by your Jungle Guide along the way). Whilst there is no minimum age for children joining this trip, children will need to be need to be comfortable trekking in a humid, hot climate.
Return transfers from hotels in central Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (and from the Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort located north of Kota Kinabalu), simple lunch, drinking water, activities as stated (jungle trek, 1 x zip line ride), accompanied by a qualified outdoor guide and use of The Adventure Centre facilities.
Beverages and items not mentioned. A pick u surcharge is applicable from hotels south of Kota Kinabalu.
RECOMMENDED PACKING LIST FOR TRIP
Comfortable trekking shoes, water bottle (minimum 1.5 litre), insect / mosquito repellent, sun protection cream, rain jacket, camera, dry bag (or plastic bag inside a small rucksack) and hat. Optional - extra clothes to change into once you have finished your trekking activity.
Minimum 2 persons per booking. Bookings need to be made minimum 48 hours in advance of tour date.
