The Research Center is fully equipped with laboratories, a conference room, researcher living quarters, dorms, camp grounds and a cafeteria. As a research center it was not originally designed with tourists in mind - this means, practically, that you will not have access to the facilities, or service, you would expect to typically receive from a Resort or Lodge that is set up and aimed 100% at tourists. But remember, your Nature Guide is there to look after you throughout your stay so if you need help with something at Danum Valley Research Center you only need to ask them and they’ll do their best to look after you.

You will be staying in a twin share Standard room at Danum Valley Field Center. The Standard Rooms are simple and come with an ensuite bathroom and ceiling fan. You can see photos of the Standard Room accommodation at Danum Valley Field Center. Power at Danum ValleyField Center goes off from 12am - 6am so be prepared to get hot and sticky during the night. Food at the Research Center is also a simple fair with local dishes served buffet style for meals.

If your main priority is to visit Danum Valley, and very basic accommodation is fine for you, then a stay at Danum Valley Field Center is worth considering. If quality of accommodation matters to you, and having access to a few more creature comforts, then we would recommend you consider a 3D2N or 4D3N package at Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Borneo Rainforest Lodge is an alternative, high quality accommodation option for staying in Danum Valley.

Are you looking for a more relaxing option for seeing wildlife in Borneo? Then you should consider visiting the Kinabatangan River. Here, you will join river cruises in search of wildlife so you can sit back and relax as your Guide points out wildlife to you along the river bank.
