The Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort is located in the Lower Kinabatangan Segma Wetlands which is home to three Forest Reserves. The location is recognised as an internationally important wetland for its undisturbed ecosystem where a number of rare, endangered species live such as the Borneo Pygmy Elephant, Proboscis Monkey and Rhinoceros Hornbill. The Lower Kinabatangan Floodplain, which the Resort borders, is home to an amazing diversity of flora and fauna with a record 1000 plant species, 90 fish species and reptilian and 50 mammal species. Bird watchers will also find this place incredible. There have been over 200 species of birds spotted around the reserve.
