Turtle Island Marine Park - 2D/1N

Tour Description

The Turtle Islands Marine Park is about 40km north of Sandakan. There are three islands - Pulau Selingaan, Pulau Bakkungan Kecil and Pulau Gulisan. Designated as a Marine Park, the islands are one of the most important turtle breeding areas in South East Asia. A safe haven for endangered Green and Hawksbill turtles, the marine park is visited almost every night by turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. While the best nesting months are between July and October, both Green Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles lay their eggs throughout the year.

When you first arrive at the Island you will have plenty of time to explore, swim and snorkel. Enjoy the azure sea and coral reefs fringing the Island. Spend a leisurely day simply enjoying the sun, sand and sea.

After dinner you will be escorted by an experienced guide to enjoy a magical moment watching a Green Turtle lay eggs on the beach. Spend some time to learn about the park's conservation efforts as you help to release little turtle hatchlings from the hatchery to the sea.

Stay overnight on Selingaan in a chalet (basic twin sharing, air-con, shared bathrooms).

Included in this tour are transfer from Sandakan to Turtle Island Marine Park, meals and overnight accommodation.

You can choose to add another East Sabah tour during day 2 – try Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary or Labuk Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. Or just tour Sandakan, Sabah’s second largest city, until your flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
