PADI Project AWARE Speciality Program
The Project AWARE Speciality course with Borneo Dream in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is designed to familiarize divers, and non-divers, with the plight of worldwide aquatic ecosystems (such as coral reefs) and to describe what individuals can do to help protect them.
This course covers information about aquatic ecosystem degradation along with conservation measures to protect aquatic resources. The course covers the following:
- The Project AWARE philosophy about protecting worldwide aquatic ecosystems.
- The importance of and interdependent nature of worldwide aquatic ecosystems.
- Key issues concerning the environmental status of worldwide aquatic ecosystems, including: fisheries concerns, coastal zone management and marine pollution.
- Suggestions and information about specific actions that may help toconserve worldwide aquatic ecosystems.
The Project AWARE Speciality course is designed for classroom presentation only, no dives are required. It is an ideal course to be combined other specialities such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, AWARE Fish Identification and other programs such as Discover Snorkeling or the PADI Skin Diver course.
The Project AWARE Speciality course duration is 0.5 days and there is no age limit and it is open to both divers and non-divers alike. This makes it a great course for families to combine with a snorkeling or diving day trip with Borneo Dream.
