The PADI Advanced Open Water (AOW) Diver course is a great way to further improve your scuba diving skills and to start diving deeper, safely. The PADI Advanced Open Water course qualifies the scuba diver to dive to a depth of 30m (for those aged 14 years, or less, this is reduced to 21m) compared to the 18m of the PADI Open Water Diver course.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of five (5) ocean dives of which two (2) of them must be Deep Diving and a Underwater Navigator. The other three (3) dives can be chosen from the wide choice of PADI speciality dives offered by Borneo Dream. Most of these PADI speciality dives will be run in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP). The Wreck and Nitrox specialities will be run at the Rice Bowl Wreck - wreck diving from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. Here is a quick list of popular options to add to your two core dives (Deep Diving and Underwater Navigator):- - AWARE Fish Identification - Start to recognise the wide range of fish life in the tropical waters of Sabah.
- Boat Diving - Learn all about Boat Diving, entry and exits, Do's and Don'ts plus a bit of boat steering!
- Multilevel & Computer Diving - Start extending your bottom time by accurately tracking your dive profile.
- Peak Performance Buoyancy - A good option that helps lower your air consumption and improve your diving skills.
- Discover Nitrox / Enriched Air - Start to extend your bottom time with the addition of more oxygen and less nitrogen.
- Underwater Naturalist - Learn more about coral reefs and the marine life they support.
- Underwater Photography - Start to learn the techniques for taking a good photo underwater.
Others can be arranged subject to a minimum number divers, weather and existing diving itinerary - these are listed below. Please note there is a small surcharge when you request these:- - Wreck Diving - Conducted on the World War 2 Wrecks at Usukan Bay.
- Drift Diving - Conducted at either Mayne Rock or Pulau Tiga.
- Night Diving
Each dive on the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course represents the first dive of the associated PADI Speciality course. So, for example, if you were to complete three (3) further deep dives with us you could qualify as a PADI Deep Diver with a depth rating of 40m (For the PADI Deep Diver Speciality the minimum age is 15 years). Please note that there are a few pre-requisites before you start your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver - you must be minimum a PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent), comfortable in water and able to swim, in good health and if you are on any medication you should consult your doctor before signing up.
