Poring Hot Springs near Kota Kinabalu and the Crocker Mountain Range, Sabah Tour Description The springs are near Ranau, about 25km from the Kinabalu National Parks headquarters, but named Poring after the local name for one of the species of bamboo found in the area. You can relax in the hot sulphuric mineral water that is claimed to have curing powers. A butterfly farm has been set up there to help to research and educate people on the local species and there is also an orchid conservation area with the largest live collection of the Sabah Orchid and rare local wild orchids. There are also trails though the local rainforest where you can see butterflies and birds, waterfalls and bat caves. The canopy walk is an amazing way to view the forest from high up in the Mengarris trees.
