Bev on Tanjung Aru beachBev Hulme

Finance Director

Email: bev@borneodream.com

Born in Newbury, England and educated in Hertford, Bev is another member of the Borneo Dream Team with a finance background, having worked for a major UK clearing bank for 25 years. With experience in new business development in Africa, project management and financial planning.

This is particularly evident in the way she approaches her Borneo Dream role, constantly challenging herself to creatively tailor and improve visitor experiences and ‘deliver the dream’.

Specialties:-

Bev has her feet firmly on the ground and prefers being behind a desk to under the water! She is the ‘face’ of Borneo Dream and the person people are most likely to speak to or see when they make contact.

He also looks forwards as well....Thien X Do

PADI Course Director

Instructor Training

Website: www.scubatuna.com

Email: thien@borneodream.com

Thien's first view of the underwater world was through a swimming goggle on a pristine reef off the Refugee Camp at Pulau Bidong, Malaysia in 1980. At 10 years old, awaiting UNICEF to decide his future, little did he know that first glimpse under the sea will be a part of his life's passion.

Born in the former South Viet Nam and still fluent in Vietnamese, Thien escaped with his family among the "Boat People" to Malaysia. He iemigrated to the US in 1981 and grew up in California where he lived until 2001. A graduate of University of California - Santa Barbara, USA, Thien's professional life has been as a Store Manager for Gap Inc. and Business Development Manager for E-greetings Network Inc. (eGreetings.com).

Arriving in Phuket in 2001, he was attracted to the Andaman Sea for her tremendous underwater marine life, great local & international food, and the first class professional training facilities. Graduated from PADI Head Quarter in California, Thien was no stranger to the Instructor Development Course. By the summer of 2004, he had taught in 25 programs (over 300 candidates) before becoming a PADI Course Director.

Prior to making Scuba Diving his daily lifestyle, you could find him mountain biking, running marathons, stumbling through triathlons, and falling off his skis quite often while searching for that ultimate "adrenaline rush." Now, life for him is doing that divin' thingy... and, when he’s not in Borneo training potential instructors, loving that sunset everyday from the sand of Kata!

Simon in a rare shot out of the water...Simon Enderby

Underwater Photography & Videography

Email: simon@borneodream.com

Known affectionately to his friends and colleagues as “Simple”, Simon graduated from Aberdeen University with a BSc (Hons.) degree in Marine Zoology and was a leading figure in the first scientific research expedition to Pulau Layang Layang, Malaysia in the South China Sea. Having worked with the Sea Mammal Research Unit and British Antarctic Survey in the UK, he returned to Malaysia in 1997 to survey the entire coast and coral reefs of Sabah as well as run a turtle research programme.

Simon is currently Operations Director at Scubazoo, one of the premier underwater photography and videography organisations in the world, has dived extensively on many scientific and environmental assignments and has been involved in many of Scubazoo's broadcast television filming projects. These have led him across Southeast Asia to locations such as Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Maldives and Papua New Guinea. Simon assisted with the underwater logistics, planning and filming of both UK Survivor series in 2001 and 2002 as well as project managing the Canadian IMAX production, 'Sacred Planet' on Sipadan in 2002. As, underwater cameraman for Channel 5 UK & Animal Planet's "Great Ocean Adventures", with presenter Monty Halls, in both 2005 & 2006, Simon has filmed extensively all over the world and wracked up enough air miles to have flown round it over 6 times!

Over the years Simon has faced many unique and incredible situations whilst filming - wild saltwater crocodiles, South Africa's incredible "Sardine Run", great white sharks, giant octopus, wild dugongs & manatees, feeding dolphins, six gilled sharks, deep water wrecks and some of the worlds remotest sea mounts have all been covered. Simon has done over 2300 dives and is a qualified PADI & BSAC Assistant Instructor with TDI Nitrox, Extended Range and Rebreather Diver certifications, as well as hard hat and surface supply diving experience. His dream is to re-trace his ancestor's discovery of Enderby Land in Antarctica and compare their lives as old school whalers to his life as a modern day marine biologist/underwater camerman.

Sam Donaldson and her little family.Sam Donaldson

Medical Advisor and Doctor on Call

Email: sam@borneodream.com

The rule of thumb in good planning is ‘work for the best, but plan for the worst’. With this in mind, Borneo Dream has engaged Dr Sam Donaldson to assist should an accident occur. Whilst the local medical services are excellent, there is no substitute for access to immediate medical help.

Sam was educated and completed her medical training in Australia. She has a personal interest in women’s’ health and infectious diseases and has lived Malaysia since 2004. For the first two and a half years, she was the sole doctor at the Sabah Family Planning Clinic, but she recently transferred to work for the Malaysian Government at a local hospital.

She has two children and enjoys diving, running, mountain-biking and traveling in Malaysia and Asia. Her husband is a hydraulic engineer working for a Danish company in Sabah.
