It is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Mount Kinabalu at its centre. The park is a natural wonder that offers visitors, as they follow nature trails, a glimpse into the fascinating world of flora within the park. It has a changing climate that supports rain forest plants in the lower regions then as you ascend you are able to experience different types of plants from coniferous forest to alpine type plants near the summit. You can go on guided walks around the Park or choose to follow one of the many marked nature trails around Kinabalu Park. Both provide you with the wonderful opportunity to trek through and enjoy the natural beauty around you. The journey from Kota Kinabalu to the Park Headquarters takes approximately 2 hours (90 kilometres), providing you with an opportunity to enjoy the stunning landscape as you cross the Kinabalu Mountain Range.
