Coming Soon to Borneo Dream, IANTD Technical Diving Malaysia - Mid 2008
IANTD Technical Diving Courses by Terry Dukes #4728 in Kota Kinabalu, SabahOur IANTD courses are conducted by Terry Dukes #4728. Terry has dived in many parts of SE Asia during the past 8 years and carried out many technical dives, particularly on oil rigs and deep wrecks whilst living in Brunei, Borneo, wrecks in the south of England, as well as in Puerto Galera, Philippines where he completed all his instructor training with Dave Ross of Tech Asia. He is currently (as at Jan 2006) an IANTD Normoxic Trimix Instructor.
Technical Diving PhilosophyTechnical diving carries with it potentially higher risks than recreational diving (diving in overhead environments, decompression obligations, and higher physical and physiological demands), and consequences of mistakes can be more severe. Higher risk however does not mean more dangerous. Through thorough training both in the classroom and in water, knowledge and skills are learnt and practiced to make the newly certified technical diver as safe (if not safer) as a recreational diver. Once trained it is then the responsibility of the technical diver to develop a positive and responsible attitude to diving safely within the limits of his/her training level and seek to progress to higher skill levels through continuing education and regular practice of existing skills and knowledge.
CoursesIANTD Advanced Nitrox ProgramThe Advanced Nitrox Diver Program is an entry level Technical diving program introducing disciplines involved in technical dive planning, deep diving theory, fuller understanding of enriched air in recreational diving and gas switching techniques, certifying the diver to make dives beyond recreational no-decompression limits.

Prerequisites
CostThe cost of this course is - Please contact us for an individual quotation.
The price includes:-
The course price does not included gases (Oxygen) and we typically charge around RM 25 for a single 80 CuFt. (11.25 Litre) filled with EANx32.
Student requires Two plastic underwater slates or appropriate submersible dive tables, line and reel with lift bag or safety balloon, knife, surface signal device such as Dive Alert and preferably own means of monitoring depth, time, and direction. This equipment will be available for rent.
NotesAlthough not a requirement, a Divemaster level of knowledge of diving theory is highly desirable, and without it students may find it difficult to meet the equivalency pre-assessment criteria. It is not however necessary to complete a full IANTD Deep Diver course. A combination of Deep Diver\Advanced EANx is the best option. This course takes four to five days, includes six dives with at least 160 minutes of bottom time and at least four dives deeper than 30m\100 Ft., also includes further knowledge development on areas such as physical and psychological aspects for deep diving, gas management, breathing techniques etc. For this combined program contact us for an individual quotation. This does not include the certification fee or Manual for Deep Diver, which are optional.
IANTD Recreational TrimixThis program is designed to provide recreational divers with a breathing medium to safely extend their diving depths by using Equivalent Narcosis Depths (END's) in the 12m to 24m range. All dives are no stop dives to a depth of 30 metres or deeper, up to students previous qualification level.

The course price does not included gases (Oxygen or Helium) and we typically charge around RM 25 for a single 80 CuFt. (11.25 Litre) filled with EANx32.
This course can be combined with the Nitrox course if not already a Nitrox diver.
IANTD Advanced Recreational TrimixThe Advanced Recreational Trimix Program, is an entry level technical diving program providing a fuller understanding of the use of Enriched Air and Trimix, within recreational diving limits. It expands upon dive planning, techniques, and deep diving theory, certifying the diver to make dives beyond recreational no-decompression limits. It is a prerequisite for the IANTD Normoxic Course.

IANTD Normoxic TrimixThis course adds to the skills learnt on either the Advanced Nitrox or the Advanced Recreational Trimix Course. This is a mixed gas course that goes beyond the boundaries of recreational dive depths, using Normoxic (no less than 21% oxygen) Trimix as a bottom gas and up to 100% oxygen for decompression. It further expands upon dive planning and decompression theory allowing divers to make dives to a depth of 60 metres, and is a prerequisite to the full Trimix course.

Safe Diving PracticeStudents with unsafe attitudes or demonstrating bad dive habits or poor water skills will not be certified. Training is purchased upon enrolment and certification is earned through the students performance and knowledge demonstrated at the end of the course. Performance will be evaluated using the IANTD 'Individual Dive' and 'Course Completion' forms. Candidates not achieving a passing score will be required to make additional dives for certification.
