The Proboscis Monkeys charming antics and the pleasure they bring to visitors is a true reward for a visionary who decided not to consider company profits before the survival of this unique species. Instead of cultivating the mangrove swamps they had just bought for Oil Palms, the owner of this area of land realised these delightful creatures had lost most of their natural habitat so he decided instead to preserve an area for these monkeys and started a regular daily food supply of fruit and water to supplement their diet as their dwindling habitat could not supply all their food requirements.
