PADI Scuba Diver courses in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysian Borneo
Tour DescriptionThe PADI Scuba Diver Course allow persons aged 10 years or older to dive with (Buddy) a PADI Professional (Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or Instructor) or their qualified diving parent or guardian to a maximum depth of 12m. The course covers the first three sections of the PADI Open Water Diver course and will require you to watch three (3) sections of a DVD, read and learn three (3) chapters in the PADI Go-Dive manual and complete the three (3) associated Knowledge reviews. After you have finished the study phase you will be required to attend three (3) confined water/swimming pool sessions, small water stamina tests and finally two (2) ocean dives to a maximum of 12m. You cannot complete any of the pool/ocean sessions if you have not completed the study phases. It is possible to provide you with access to the study data prior to your holiday or if you prefer to wait until you arrive here please note we will allow time at the start of your holiday to complete the study. Having completed your studying the pool and ocean sessions will take you approximately one and a half days
If you are interested to complete the study phase prior to reaching Sabah, Malaysia then click on the following for instructions on two ways to achieve this . . . . Diver referral & e-Learning
This is great and rewarding first step into the world of PADI Scuba Diving and is accredited towards your PADI Open Water Diver certification but if you want to go further why not upgrade to a PADI Open Water Diver and increase your depth to 18m and also able to dive with any Buddy rather than just a PADI Professional. Your full Open Water Maximum course duration will be 3 days.
We must insist a Risk and Medical Statement is signed by the participant (in the case of under 18's by the Parent or Guardian) and we must also insist that any participant under 18 years is supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
The confined water/pool elements of the course will take place either in a local designated pool or in a confined water area on the TARP (please click here for more information on TARP) and the ocean elements will be in TARP.
You will be supervised by a PADI Dive Professional that will be with you at all times throughout the days activity. All our Dive Professionals are insured and are in 'Active Teaching Status' with PADI. You can verify this by asking for their qualification card - only those in 'Active teaching Status" holding a qualification of PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor or higher may teach you.
You can find some more information on safety and checks required for a diving trip on Our Safety pages - whoever you take a tour with it's a good idea to make sure they are following rigid standards and procedures to ensure your safety at all times. Check out our checklists too . . . . snorkeling and diving checklist )
The trip includes hotel and boat transfer, lunch and use of our scuba equipment.
Start & End of the JourneyThe day starts at 9am and finishes about 5.30pm.
