4D/3N ‘Get Wrecked’ Diving Safari and Hotel Package (based in Kota Kinabalu)
Dive Safari DescriptionCome to West Sabah for a wreck diving safari in a tropical paradise. During your 4 day safari we will organise two full days diving (4 dives) to the Usukan Bay Wrecks on the Borneo Dream 3 catamaran. The Usukan wrecks are incredibly interesting, and exciting, dives for experienced divers.
The Usukan wrecks includes three stunning, large World War II Japanese wrecks lying approximately 31 nautical miles NNE of Kota Kinabalu. The wrecks are known as the ‘Usukan Wreck’, ‘Upside-down wreck’ and the ‘Rice Bowl Wreck’. The wrecks range in depths from 40m – 26m of water and can have small to medium strong currents present.
All of the wrecks are covered in stunning soft coral gardens and hard corals including Whip Coral and Barrel Sponges. Expect to see a range of amazing marine life including schooling fish, various Nudibranches, Cuttle Fish, Scorpion Fish, Stone Fish, Bat Fish, Fusiliers, Yellow Snappers and more. Find overhangs, swim-throughs and plenty of holes to search with a torch and find marine life treasures. For additional information on the Usukan wrecks, taken with kind permission from the Panaga Divers of Brunei (web site http://www.panagadivers.com), please click on the following link . . . . More. Many thanks to Mark Tuttle, John Elder and also Maurice Davidsons book Brunei Laut.
You can see the itinerary for this safari by clicking on the following link . . . . 4D/3N Get Wrecked Safari Itinerary
Please note that due to the depth and currents on these dive sites, we will only take divers who are at least PADI Advanced Open Water or similar. A PADI Wreck Diver Speciality would be beneficial. This is also an ideal diving safari for technical divers. Diving the wrecks is also subject to weather conditions.
It's important to us to ensure your safety at all times – that way you can focus on enjoying yourself! We have a range of safety equipment on board our boat and apply the highest safety standards to ensure your diving day trip is incident free. Please check out 'Our Boat Safety' page for more details . . . . and if you are interested you can download our snorkeling and diving checklist.
Your HotelYou can choose to stay at either the budget hotel, Hotel Garden, the boutique 4* Jesselton Hotel or the 5* Pacific Sutera Resort Hotel - all centrally located so you can enjoy the sights of Kota Kinabalu when you are not diving. Your accommodation includes breakfast but no evening meals - there are a lot of great places to eat to suit all tastes and budgets so please ask your Borneo Dream representative if you need any help choosing where to have dinner.
