Our RIB - Fast & Fun!

Our RIB is revolutionising scuba diving experiences in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It is the first RIB in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to be used for recreational diving.

Like our catamaran, Borneo Dream 3, our RIB was custom designed and became part of the Borneo Dream fleet in April 2010.

With twin 150hp Yamaha 4 stroke engines our RIB has a cruising speed, when planing, of 30 knots and a top speed of approx. 50 knots!! It now takes only one hour to reach our offshore diving sites from Kota Kinabalu, KK, Sabah - WW2 Usukan Wrecks, Pulau Tiga and Mayne Rock - and only slightly longer to reach Mantanani.

It is fitted with the latest navigation equipment – GPS Plotter, Sounder and Sidescan Sonar - and has seating for 12 persons (on jockey seats) providing for a fast, comfortable and safe boat transfer to our long distance dive sites. For our scuba diving trips we choose to have less than 12 divers on our boat so our diving customers can be assured of a comfortable, and fast, boat transfer to the dive sites.

There is a comprehensive range of safety equipment on board - 12 x personal buoyancy aids, 4 x Life Rings/Floats, full first aid kit, DAN Diver Emergency Oxygen Kit with 1000 Litres of Medical Oxygen onboard, VHF radio, GPS (Global Positioning System) and compass - so you can be assured of a safe trip.

For all our boats we insist on applying the highest safety standards so you can relax and focus on having a fun day out:

  • All crew members are First Aid Trained
  • All Skippers are RYA Certified and have Commercial Endorsements from the MCA for 12m long vessels up to 200 Tonnes with 12 paying guests 20 Nautical Miles offshore/safe haven.
  • Boat is fully insured and all crew have personal liability insurance.
  • All boats are fully licensed - boat licenses, Sabah Parks Landing Permit
